I’ve been to Niagara Falls three times, as it’s only two hours from Toronto and easily accessible by bus. Each visit was a different experience—once at night in September, again the following day, and once in December.
My first visit was to see the fireworks at night in September. I was truly amazed by the sheer power of this natural wonder. At night, the falls are illuminated in a stunning display of colors. There are actually two different waterfalls—one on the American side, which is smaller but still incredible, and the more impressive Canadian falls. If you cross the Rainbow Bridge, you’re immediately in Buffalo, United States.
Niagara Falls was formed around 12,000 years ago during the last Ice Age when melting glaciers created the Great Lakes. The water carved out the Niagara River, leading to the spectacular waterfalls we see today. Today, Niagara Falls is one of the most visited natural attractions in the world, famous for its breathtaking scenery and thrilling boat tours like Maid of the Mist.
We ate poutine, the national dish of Canada, for the first time there, but I strongly recommend to eat that in Montreal, the original city of his creation it was so much better. In Niagara Falls, I think it was nothing particular.

One day trip in Niagara
The day after that, my school offered a one day trip in partenariat with ISX tours. We took the bus again to go there, and we visited Niagara on the Lake, located on the shores of Lake Ontario. We stoped as well in a winery, Niagara being known for his typical wine.

The little Las Vegas
When we arrived in Niagara Falls, we took a tour of the city, which I can easily compare to Las Vegas. The streets are lined with shops, restaurants, casinos, and tourist attractions, creating a lively and almost surreal atmosphere. I was truly surprised by this contrast—it felt so different from the natural wonder of the falls, which are just a short walk away. The mix of nature and entertainment makes Niagara Falls a unique destination, but I couldn’t help but feel amazed by the contrast between the two.
After that, we booked a tour in the Skyline Tour and I enjoyed the breathtaking view.

The boat tour
We also joined a boat tour to experience the full force of the falls up close. We first approached the American Falls, getting an incredible view of the rushing water. But when we reached the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, we ended up completely soaked! It was such a fun experience because you truly feel insignificant compared to the power of nature, and everyone on board was equally amazed. The mist, the roar of the falls, and the sheer force of the water made it an unforgettable moment.

Another perception of the Falls during Winter
I visited again in December, and for me, this was the most incredible experience. We got wet as soon as we passed by the bridge, and with the cold, it was absolutely freezing! But this weather created a magical scene—everything around the bridge facing the falls was completely frozen. It was mesmerizing and, once again, breathtaking. We also took part in another activity: exploring the tunnels behind the falls. It was an unforgettable experience, and we laughed so much because we were completely shocked by the sheer power of the water—we almost lost our balance!
Reflections
I went there each time for different reasons and with different friends, so I definitely became attached to this place. I will never forget this feeling.
